Alert Regarding Unrest in Mexico

The Office of International Services acknowledges the ongoing unrest in parts of Mexico and the travel advisories that have been issued in response. We understand that situations like this may cause concern, particularly for members of the UIC international community who have family, academic commitments, or travel plans connected to the region.

At this time, we encourage those with planned travel to the region to closely review the U.S. Department of State's most recent security alert and travel advisory, along with the travel guidance and support provided by your home country's embassy or consulate in Mexico.

As a reminder, anyone traveling on official UIC business must adhere to the UIC International Travel Safety Policy, which includes enrolling in the International Travel Safety Roster.

We recognize that global events can be unsettling. Whether you are directly or indirectly affected by these events, know that OIS advisors are available to provide immigration and travel guidance and referrals as needed. In addition, UIC Counseling Services can provide mental health support. We encourage you to reach out and seek support as needed.

The Office of International Services aims to create a welcoming and supportive environment for UIC's community of international students, scholars, and employees. Please contact our office at (312) 996-3121 or ois@uic.edu with any questions or concerns during regular hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please call the OIS After Hours Emergency phone at +1 (312) 415-0334 for immigration or international travel-related emergencies while our office is closed.
