Outreach Regarding Events in the Middle East
Introduction
The Office of International Services is reaching out to members of the UIC international community who have been impacted by the ongoing events in the Middle East to express concern, provide guidance, and remind you of available resources.
We recognize that this situation is evolving daily and it may not be immediately clear what kind of support you need. As always, OIS advisors are available to discuss immigration-related questions, but we can also listen and provide a first point of contact for referrals as needed. Additionally, you can reach out to a trusted faculty or staff member to share your concerns and get the conversation of support started.
We encourage those with planned travel to the region to review the U.S. Department of State's most recent security alert and travel advisory page. If you need to apply for or renew a U.S. visa while abroad, closely monitor the webpage of the U.S. embassy or consulate you plan to utilize as some locations have reduced or completely suspended services. As a reminder, anyone traveling on official UIC business must adhere to the UIC International Travel Safety Policy, which includes enrolling in the International Travel Safety Roster.
