Winter Break Closure & Service Change Dates
Introduction
The Office of International Services would like to alert the international community that it will operate on an adjusted schedule on certain dates in December and January. Unless otherwise noted, office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
End-of-Year Office Operations & Closure
- Friday, Dec. 5 - 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (full in-person and virtual services)
- Wednesday, Dec. 17 - Closed from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for staff professional development.
- Monday, Dec. 22 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (full in-person and virtual services)
- Tuesday, Dec. 23 - 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (virtual services only)
- Wednesday, Dec. 24 to Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 - Closed for winter break. Advisors will not be available during this time. However, immigration requests, including the mandatory Immigration Check-In with OIS for new international students and scholars, can still be submitted through myOIS. Requests will be processed upon the reopening of our office on Jan. 2, 2026.

Winter Break Emergency Information
- If you experience an immigration travel-related emergency during winter break, please call the OIS After-Hours Emergency Phone at (+1) 312-415-0334 and/or email ois@uic.edu.
- If you experience an emergency on-campus, connect with UIC Police by calling (312) 355-5555. Visit UIC Police online for more services and non-emergency contact information.
- If you experience an emergency off-campus, connect with local fire, medical, and/or police emergency services by calling 911.
