Download iCal FileDuring this workshop, OIS advisors will review the basic processes for sponsoring foreign nationals at UIC in various paid appointments across UIC employment categories: Faculty, Postdoc, Staff, clinical, etc.
The following topics will be covered:
- Basic immigration concepts and the government agencies involved
- Overview of common employee immigration statuses: F-1 OPT, J-1, H-1B, O-1, and TN
- Timeline for sponsorship
- myOIS Check-in and onboarding
This workshop is open to UIC administrators whose work involves recruiting, hiring, and supporting foreign national employees at UIC. Registration is required for participation and is limited to UIC administrators. Please contact ois@uic.edu with any questions. This event will be recorded and shared with those that register.
