Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
During our regular hours of operation, visitors are welcome to drop off and pick up documents at our front desk or contact us for general assistance via phone or email. Please see below for details on how to schedule an advising appointment with an OIS advisor. OIS remains open during spring break and summer terms, closing only during winter break and official University holidays. Please see our emergency information page for instructions on what to do if you experience an emergency while our office is closed.

UIC international students, exchange visitors, and employees typically make appointments to discuss immigration status and services, to seek referrals to UIC and external resources, and to find guidance and support around issues related to cultural adjustment or the logistics of daily life in the U.S.
International Students
International students can schedule an advising appointment with an OIS advisor through iAdvise. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday, with the first appointment at 9:00 a.m. and the last appointment beginning at 3:00 p.m. Appointments must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and same-day appointments are not available. When scheduling your appointment, you can choose to meet with the OIS Advisor in person at our office or virtually via Zoom.

J-1 EV Scholars
Send your appointment request to oisj1@uic.edu and include your name, UIN (if available), the reason for the appointment, preferred date/time, and format (in-person or virtual). An OIS Advisor will connect with you to confirm the details of the appointment.

You can find OIS on the second floor of the Student Services Building (SSB) at 1200 West Harrison Street. SSB is conveniently located near the Racine stop of the CTA Blue Line and along the routes of the #7 and #60 CTA Buses. Limited street parking is available but you can pay to park your car at the Harrison Street Parking Structure just half a block away.
