CTA Blue Line Updates Impact Access to UIC Student Services Building & Office of International Services
On Sunday, July 23, The Chicago Transportation Authority (CTA) will begin infrastructure updates to the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line train. The planned work will impact access to the UIC Student Services Building (SSB) and the Office of International Services via the CTA Blue Line train from approximately late July to early October.
Specifically, the Racine stop of the CTA Blue Line train will be closed for the duration of the work beginning July 23 and ending sometime in early October. Racine is one of three Blue Line train stops servicing the UIC campus and the closest to SSB where the Office of International Services is located. The UIC-Halsted stop which services east campus, will be closed from July 23 through the end of August. Free shuttle bus service will be provided by CTA in lieu of train service during the closures, but riders are advised to allow extra time for travel. Please visit the CTA website for an overview of the planned work and expected service changes.
Members of the UIC international community wishing to visit the Office of International Services in person during this time should plan their route to SSB in advance and visit the CTA website to explore options.
As a reminder, most immigration requests can be submitted online via the myOIS immigration portal. This includes the Immigration Check-In with OIS required of all international students, scholars, and employees new to UIC. In addition, virtual advising continues to be available by appointment.
