CTA Blue Line Updates Impact Access to UIC Student Services Building & Office of International Services

The Chicago Transportation Authority (CTA) will continue its work modernizing the Forest Park Branch of the Blue Line train through 2024 and into 2025. This branch of the train line serves the UIC campus in Chicago.

Currently, reconstruction of the Blue Line Racine station is impacting access to the Student Services Building (SSB), home of the Office of International Services. While the stop is still functioning, the east side entrance/exit closest to SSB off Racine Avenue is closed. Riders must access the Racine station via its west side entrance off Loomis Street. Riders are encouraged to plan for this increased walking distance to SSB when utilizing the Blue Line train at Racine.

As a reminder, most immigration requests can be submitted online via the myOIS immigration portal. This includes the Immigration Check-In with OIS required of all international students, scholars, and employees new to UIC. In addition, virtual advising continues to be available by appointment.

Please visit the CTA website for an overview of the planned work and expected service changes.
