UIC Returns to Hybrid Instruction Feb. 8
On Feb. 1, campus administration notified the UIC community that state and local guidelines will allow for a return to on-campus hybrid instruction beginning Monday, Feb. 8. You can read the full announcement here, which includes details on mandatory saliva testing and the UIC Health Check and Daily Pass for individuals participating in on-campus activities.
As we return to on-campus instruction, the Office of International Services would like to remind the UIC international community of a few important points:
- F-1 and J-1 international students that enrolled for traditional in-person or hybrid classes should attend available on-campus meetings. This is true whether you enrolled for an in-person or hybrid class by choice or by requirement of your immigration status. Of course, if you are not feeling well or otherwise do not meet health requirements for visiting campus, stay home and participate in classes virtually until you are able to return to campus.
- F-1 international students that were allowed to, and enrolled in, all online classes can continue to study virtually while maintaining status. UIC's return to hybrid instruction does not affect your ability to maintain status while continuing to study your exclusively online courseload. As a reminder, only students with continuing F-1 status (students who arrived physically in the U.S. in F-1 status for the fall 2020 semester or earlier) were allowed to enroll in all online classes.
- Familiarize yourself with UIC Healthcheck, Daily Pass, and mandatory saliva testing. You will need to utilize these health screening tools in order to visit campus or attend class.
- OIS will continue to provide all services and programs virtually. While our office space will remain closed to in-person visitors after UIC's return to hybrid instruction on Feb. 8, all services, advising, and programming will continue to be provided online as it has for the past months.
