International Partners

The University of Illinois Chicago has established exchange partnerships with many universities around the world. UIC’s exchange programs are a collaborative effort between units within the Office of Global Engagement (OGE), UIC academic departments and international partner institutions, and have a vital role in contributing to UIC’s goal of a globally connected campus community.

Nomination & Application Information for Exchange Program Coordinators Heading link

The Office of International Services supports the UIC Exchange program by administering and supporting the incoming exchange experience, including the nomination and application process. We ask our colleagues at international partner institutions to work closely with their students on the nomination and application process to study as exchange students at UIC. Students should communicate directly through you, their home institution, until they have been formally nominated to study at UIC.

Number of nomination slots

Prior to nomination, please contact OIS to indicate your proposed number of student slots and to verify the terms of your institution’s exchange agreement for the requested academic term or year.

Nomination process

To nominate a student to the UIC Exchange Program you will need to complete the UIC Exchange Student Nomination Form that needs to include the following information: student’s full name, email address, program level (undergraduate/graduate), year, and program of study. By submitting the form you are also confirming that the student intends to enroll in a full-time coursework at UIC.

After nomination

Once OIS receives the nomination, OIS staff will work with your nominated student on the UIC Exchange Student Application. OIS will copy your institution on the initial contact email with the student, and beyond that, OIS will communicate directly with the prospective exchange student for next steps and required items.

Submitting transcripts

UIC requires original transcripts for admittance into the university. Transcripts should be submitted directly to OIS so they may be paired with the student’s Exchange Program application.

Communication during the program Heading link

Office of Global Engagement staff, including OIS advisors, will communicate with you at the beginning of the nomination and application processes. Please note that due to U.S. federal privacy laws, UIC staff are limited with what information we are able to share after the student enrolls at UIC.

Obtaining UIC transcripts Heading link

OIS recommends that outgoing UIC exchange students request copies of their final UIC transcripts approximately four to eight weeks prior to the completion of their exchange program. Students are directly responsible for clearing any holds on their UIC account. Outstanding holds may prevent the student from obtaining their UIC transcript. Types of holds may range from outstanding bills, immunization documents not received, etc. UIC staff cannot provide information to the exchange partner on reasons for a hold, or if there are any holds on a student record, due to U.S. federal privacy laws.
