Temporary Housing

An important step on your pre-arrival to-do list is to secure a place to stay for your first couple of days or weeks in Illinois. Some people may be lucky and move directly into their long-term housing, however, most people will need some form of temporary housing to bridge the gap between arrival and move-in day. Whatever you arrange, it is strongly encouraged that you confirm temporary housing prior to your arrival as accommodations may be limited and more expensive if you try to book upon arrival.

Family & friends Heading link

For some, staying with friends or family might be an option for temporary accommodation upon arrival in Illinois. Other new international students and scholars have reported finding temporary accommodation with fellow internationals from their home country or region as well. If you plan to stay with a friend or family member, be sure to confirm the accommodation shortly before arrival and carry their exact address in your hand luggage during your journey to the U.S.
